Description:
In the fall of 2009, as a result of the storm events, the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) requested local governments submit projects for financial assistance through the EWP program. Projects would be reviewed for eligibility and submitted for approval. A 25% match by the City would be required. The purpose of the EWP was very focused on imminent hazards to life and property caused by the storms.

Based on staff's knowledge of flooding issues identified and the requirements of the program, three projects were submitted for review. These included: 1) Debris in stream just downstream of Hwy. 9 culvert in Hog Wallow Creek, 2) Stream bank erosion near sewer line on Hog Wallow Creek at Millbrook Ct., and 3) Stream bank erosion along Big Creek on Oxbo Road.

Comments:
After initial review by NRCS staff, two of the projects were determined eligible for funding assistance and dollar amounts for the projects were estimated by NRCS staff. The amounts determined are: 1) $642.00 for the debris in the stream and 2) $16,999 for the bank erosion along Hog Wallow Creek near Millbrook Ct.

The 25% City match would total $4,410.25. Funding is available in current Budget of Cost Center 4320 if the projects are approved by NRCS.
