Body
Item Summary:
Invitation to Bid #09-364C was issued and 2 bids were received ranging from $58,500 to $86,709.70. Blankinship Sand Co., LLC was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $58,500.

The Big Creek intake was last dredged in 1998 and, since that time, sediment from run-off has built up around the intake and in the creek. Because of this build-up, the Water Plant experiences shutdowns due to blockage of the intake screen. The dredging of the creek will also aid in providing better raw water quality for treatment to minimize the amount of chemicals needed and the cost.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On February 2, 2010, the Public Safety & Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the February 17, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda.

Financial Impact:
Funds in the amount of $75,000 are available in the Water Fund, Cost Center 440B, Account 521400.
