Item Summary:
The Water Resources Development Act of 1992 (WRDA) Section 219 Program provides for design and construction assistance for authorized water-related projects. The Swaybranch Dam Rehabilitation project qualifies for Section 219 program funding with a required 25% City match.
 
The total project cost of the Swaybranch Dam Rehabilition Project is approximately $835,000. $208,750 ($65,000 cash and $143,750 land value) is the required 25% City match.  This project will rehabilitate and combine a failing dual detention pond by removing the existing wet pond and dry detention dams and creating a single flood storage detention pond.

On July 13, 2010 the Public Safety & Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the July 26, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
The City's match for the project is 25%. The City will pay for design costs for the project at $65,000. Upon approval of the budget amendment, $65,000 will move from Cost Center 1585CP, Account 579020 and Project 05NON007 Matching Grant Contingency to Cost Center 4320G1, Account 541200 Site Improvements, Project Number 11GRA002. The construction cost portion of the project is $143,750 and the appraised value of the land of $200,100 can be used as a match for the construction portion. The total City match for the project is $208,750.
