Item Summary:
On May 4, 2009 the contract for this project was awarded to Ace Grading Company in the amount of $91,045. Ace Grading Company is unable to satisfy the terms of the contract.  Therefore, the contract is awarded to the next responsive responsible bidder, Vertical Earth, in the amount of $93,800.
 
Bid # 09-100B was issued and thirteen (13) bids were received ranging from $91,045 to $434,889. The project scope includes construction of a concrete multi-use trail that varies in width from 8 to 10 feet, along the south side of Holcomb Bridge Road between Fouts Road and Steeplechase Drive. It will connect Horseshoe Bend Subdivision and Fouts Road for both pedestrian and bicycle access along this portion of Holcomb Bridge Road. Construction of the Steeplechase Multiuse Trail will take approximately four months after notice to proceed.
 
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On April 22, 2009 the Community Development & Transportation Committee recommended placing this item on the May 4, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda, where it was subsequently approved.  Bid pricing is valid for 120 days.  A contract must be awarded by August 8, 2009 to meet the 120 day requirement.
 
Financial Impact:
Funds in the amount of $340,413.25 are available in the Holcomb Bridge Road Multiuse Trail Account, Cost Center 4210CP, Account #541415, Project #07TRA002.
