Item Summary:
The purpose of this project is to replace and upgrade approximately 1,230 linear feet of waterline along Fowler Avenue. This will replace the current 2-inch galvanized steel main with 8-inch ductile iron to improve pressure and flows in the area. The City issued Bid # 09-300C and received 10 proposals with costs ranging from $59,939 to $139,202. BRI Utility Construction, Inc. was the lowest responsive responsible bidder in the amount of $59,939 with a contingency allowance of $8,990.85 for a total not to exceed amount of $68,929.85.
Following the award, this contract will be amended to incorporate emergency replacement of the Fowler Avenue culvert damaged during the September 2009 flood. That emergency project is estimated at $12,000.

On November 9, 2009 the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the November 16, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Funds in the amount of $178,765 are available in the Water Fund, Cost Center 440C, Account 541420 and Project No. 09ENV007.
