Item Summary:
The City has been awarded a grant for the Department of Energy's Local Energy Assurance Plan (LEAP) Initiative. Based on the City's population, the City applied for and was awarded $130,000 to develop an Energy Assurance Plan for the City. The objectives of the LEAP Initiative include: 1. Strengthen and expand local government energy assurance planning and resiliency; 2. Reduce the impacts from energy supply disruptions following an emergency or disaster event; 3. Identify alternative and renewable energy resources for City operations; and 4. Create jobs. The City of Roswell was the only local government in the state of Georgia selected for this opportunity.

On April 12, 2010 the Public Safety & Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the April 19, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
This is a 100% funded grant; there is no local match required.
