Body
Item Summary:
This grant is to pay for the six North Fulton cities to change over the radio system to UASI and install three additional communication towers in North Fulton.  The six North Fulton cities include:  Roswell, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton and Mountain Park.   The required local match is 20% (of the total project cost) or approximately $800,000 for the group.  The exact share for Roswell depends on the population (20% for those cities with greater than 50,000 population and 10% for those less than 50,000 but not less than 20,000; for cities with populations of less than 20,000 the match is 5%) and the number of partners. The application deadline is May 28, 2010.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On May 4, 2010 the Public Safety & Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the May 17, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda.

Financial Impact:
The City's portion of the required match (estimated between $120,000 and $160,000) would come from the $410,596 currently available in Matching Grant Fund Contingency.
