Body

Item Summary:

The City of Roswell is announcing the first Green Hair Challenge.  Beginning March 2, citizens and employees will be able to vote for their favorite elected official and/or department head.  Votes are $1.00 each and ballots can be found on the Keep Roswell Beautiful website - www.keeproswellbeautiful.org <http://www.keeproswellbeautiful.org>.  Voting will be open from March 2 through April 15th at 5:00 p.m.  Paper ballots are also available in each department and checks should be made payable to Keep Roswell Beautiful.

The elected official and department head receiving the most votes will dye their hair green or wear a green wig on April 20th for a variety of activities throughout the day including the Mayor and Council meeting that evening.

The funds raised from the Green Hair Challenge will be used to hold a light bulb exchange on Wednesday, April 22 (Earth Day) at Roswell City Hall from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Residents and employees are encouraged to bring their old light bulbs to City Hall and receive up to 3 compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs in exchange.  The light bulbs for the exchange program will be purchased at cost from the City’s lighting vendor.  In addition, donations of light bulbs are being solicited from utility companies.
