Item Summary:
This request is for purchasing a replacement vehicle equipped for patrol use from Allan Vigil Ford and specialized equipment for K-9 transport from selected police equipment vendors. The existing vehicle used for K-9 transport is a 2001 Chevy Blazer. Purchase of a new K-9 was approved in the department Fiscal Year 2009 budget.

On March 3, 2009, the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the March 16, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Budget amendment 3250CP-03-16-09 will move $39,000 from Fund 210, Confiscated Assets, Cost Center 3250, Use of Reserves to Fund 350 Capital Project Fund, Cost Center 3250 CP, and Account 542200, Project 09POL008 K-9 Vehicle. There is currently $700,000 available in the Confiscated Assets Fund.
