HPC08-46, 1131 Canton St., Harris Boyd, Land Lot 411
Body
Item Summary:
The applicant is requesting an extension of his Certificate of Appropriateness that was approved by the Historic Preservation Commission at the November 12, 2008, meeting.

Staff Report:

The applicants proposal for the construction of a two-story rear addition of 1,950 square feet was approved by the Historic Preservation Commission at their meeting held on November 12, 2008 with the following condition:

1. A final landscape plan, including the species and location of the nine required 4 caliper trees, shall be approved by the Architectural Subcommittee.

The applicant met with the Architectural Subcommittee on November 21, 2008, and agreed to construct the addition on a pier foundation which would protect the tree deemed lost with the construction of the proposed addition. The applicant was to verify with the Citys Landscape Architect that this solution would insure the health of the tree and not require recompense.

Proposal

As Historic Preservation Commission approvals expire one year after the date of the approval, the applicant has requested an extension of the approval.

Staff Recommendation

The staff recommends approval of the extension.
