Discussion of the Citizen Advisory Group for the Historic Gateway project - Guidance

Description:

On September 27, the Mayor and City Council are scheduled to approve the selection of the Consultant (PB Americas Inc.) to design our Historic Gateway project, removing the reversible lanes along Atlanta Street.

Public involvement for this project will be extensive over the next 12-18 months. The Consultant has asked RDOT for a list of Roswell Citizens to serve on the Citizen Advisory Group (CAG). The role of this focus group will be to advise the Consultant on existing issues within the corridor and to review proposed concepts and alternatives before they are released at the official public open houses. Ideally, the CAG should represent the citizens of Roswell and each member should have an equal voice.

The consultant has requested a list of at least 100 names. This yields approximately 15 unique names per elected official. While this may appear to be a large number of people, experience suggests that only a small number will actually attend any given meeting.

Comments:

As an example, Mayor and Council members can provide these names and contact information in an email to Steve Acenbrak or Kim Weber by October 1, 2010. Staff will then consolidate the names and send them back to the Mayor and Council for review and approval.
