Title
Discussion of Police Department reorganization - Guidance
Body
Action Required:
A committee of officers and employees from different positions within the police department reviewed the current organizational structure, operational issues, and an alternative structure.  The committee recommended that the form of organizational structure should be designed around functions and responsibilities of the different units.  The Plan calls for the Chief of Police to have four direct reports, an Assistant Chief, Detention Facility Manager, Professional Standards, and an Administrative Assistant.

The rest of the department would be divided into three divisions including: Patrol, Detectives, and Administration. The detention facility would be one division with its own structure, answering to the Detention Facility Manager.
