Description:
The City continues to bring exciting, functional, and aesthetically pleasing projects to life. The landscape component is both environmentally friendly and well received by the public. However, as more projects are completed throughout the City, there are added costs for routine maintenance, especially landscaping work which requires constant maintenance. The Transportation Department is not staffed nor equipped to perform this type of work.
Currently there are four locations which are having a direct impact to our maintenance cost:
• Roundabout @ Grimes Bridge Road and Norcross Road
• Mimosa Boulevard Extension
• Midtown Street Scape
• Oak Street
Staff recommends privatizing the seasonal landscape maintenance portion for these projects. Below are cost estimates for each location per year:
• Roundabout---------------------------------------------------------$8,400.00
• Mimosa Boulevard Extension-------------------------------------$12,600.00
• Midtown Street Scape---------------------------------------------$18,900.00
• Oak Street-----------------------------------------------------------$4,500.00
Total estimated cost annually $44,400.00
