Title
Approval for the submission of a Letter of Interest (LOI) to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant program.
Presented by Michael Fischer, Deputy City Administrator
Body
Item Summary:
The ARC has allocated $124 million over the next six years to support transportation improvement projects that are focused on reducing congestion and improving air quality. This funding is available to local municipalities through a competitive grant process for the CMAQ program. The first step to being considered as an eligible applicant is to submit a letter of interest to the ARC by September 27, 2013.
The City would submit a letter of interest for the potential development of an alternative fueling program as the prospective project. If the letter of interest is accepted, ARC staff will then work with City staff to develop a proposal for the grant application deadline of November 15 and an anticipated award notification in 2014.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On September 10, 2013 the Administration, Finance, Recreation and Parks Committee recommended placing this Item on the September 23, 2013 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Submission of a Letter of Interest will not formally commit the City to implementation of this project.
