Description:

The survey for the Sun Valley Connector area is underway. Once completed, staff will be in a better position to master-plan the new road network there.                                                                                     Staff has developed several concepts to connect Sun Valley Drive, Warsaw Road, Mansell Place and Old Ellis Road in a way to provide better connectivity for city residents and businesses and relieve congestion at several key intersections. The concept also includes trail and park amenities.  Staff will be in a better position to make a recommendation on which concept best meets the city's needs once the survey is complete and staff estimates construction costs.

The concepts for this connectivity project appear to be in line with the goals of the NFCID Board of Directors.  Staff understands the NFCID has approximately $6 Million in their budget that will be discussed at a Work Session after their meeting in January 2011.  Staff would like to explain these concepts and explore partnering opportunities with the NFCID.                                                                                                                                       With the Committee's approval, staff will present these concepts to the NFCID and request an amount up to $3 million to apply toward design and construction of these projects.  Even if a partnering agreement is not reached with the NFCID, the plan is for the City to hire a consultant in the spring of 2011 to begin design work.
