Title
Approval of Resolution authorizing the Mayor and/or City Administrator to sign all necessary documents for an exchange of City property for property of equal or less value according to certified appraisals for Fire Station #4, to accept such appraisals and to abandon certain described property while maintaining a permanent right-of-way easement. Body
Item Summary:
The City of Roswell has received appraisals for property commonly known as the "CVB property" at the corner of Sloan Street and Highway 9 and for property at the corner of Market Boulevard and Old Alabama Road showing that the CVB property is worth equal to or less than the Old Alabama property. The Old Alabama property is needed to replace Fire Station #4 located on Holcomb Bridge Road. Under OCGA 36-37-6(c) and the City's Charter, the City is authorized to exchange property if, based on appraisals,  the Council decides the property being exchanged for City property is valued at an amount equal to or greater than the City property. This Resolution would make such determination and authorize the Mayor and/or City Administrator to execute an Exchange Contract to exchange the CVB property along with a small strip of sidewalk for the Old Alabama property. The City would retain an easement for sidewalks on the CVB property.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On September 10, 2014 Mayor and Council deferred this item to a future Mayor and Council Agenda.

Financial Impact:
City will be responsible for normal and customary closing costs plus appraisals.
