Body
Item Summary:
As a result of increased demand for smoother and more uniform finishes of asphalt operations, city crews need a more efficient way to get the hot asphalt from the truck bed to the patch area. This machine will compliment the paving train by allowing crews to improve productivity and the overall final product.
The estimated cost for a new Asphalt Path Paver is approximately $70,000, however, staff has received an estimate from Reynolds-Warren Equipment Company, Inc. for a used paver in the amount of $45,000. The used paver has been inspected by staff and is in good condition with low usage of 433 hours.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On April 22, 2009 the Community Development & Transportation Committee recommended placing this item on the May 4, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Funds for this purchase have been identified and the approval of Budget Amendment 4210CP-05-04-09 will move remaining balances from the unpurchased Truck Mounted Impact Attenuator Project 09TRA003 in the amount of $33,000 and $12,000 from the Asphalt Roller Replacement Project 09TRA002, for a combined total of $45,000, into a new capital account, Self Motorized Asphalt Path Paver, Cost Center 4210CP, Account 542100, Project 09TRA019.
