Presented by Joe Glover, Recreation and Parks and Historic and Cultural Affairs
Body
Item Summary:
The purpose of the operational review is to investigate the potential to develop the historic sites into a regional cultural tourism destination and to leverage financial resources to ensure financial sustainability. In 2008, the Magellan Strategy Group did a "sales and marketing" study for the homes and provided recommendations. This scope of work would complement that prior study. The Magellan Strategy Group has provided a proposed scope of work in the amount of $25,500. The proposal is for the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors to partner with the City in a 50/50 cost sharing arrangement. The CVB would act as the lead entity for the contract.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On August 13, 2013 the Administration, Finance, Recreation and Parks Committee recommended placing this Item on the August 26, 2013 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Funding for the City's contribution would come from Hotel/Motel Fund fund balance. Upon approval of Budget Amendment 27575402-08-26-13, $12,750 would be available in Org 27575402 and Object 521201 and an estimated $436,782 in fund balance would be remaining within the Hotel/Motel Fund.
