Item Summary:
This contract will provide for the development of guidelines for aesthetics and streetscape elements in the HBR/SR400 interchange area funded by GDOT and the 2012 bond referendum. Currently there are no guidelines for this part of the city. In addition, there are at least four different consulting firms actively doing design work on some area of the interchange. Pond & Company is one of the City's on-call consulting firms who has significant streetscape credentials to perform this work.
The "Pattern Book" will refine and develop consensus on streetscape/aesthetic standards for the Interchange and along Holcomb Bridge Road. These standards will be distributed to the other design firms for inclusion in their work for overall consistency. This process includes input from key community stakeholders, such as the Design Review Board (DRB) and Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

On March 27, 2013 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the April 8, 2013 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Funds in the amount of approximately $30,000 are available in the Holcomb Bridge Road/ GA400 Interchange Improvement bond project account, ORG 31242101, OBJ 541415, Project 91012 for this portion of this project.
