Body

Item Summary:

The City of Roswell Department of Transportation was honored at the Transportation Summit hosted by Georgia Department of Transportation on October 27, 2010 with recognition for Best Bridge/Structural Design.  This is the second year in a row that the City of Roswell has received an award at Transportation Summit.

The award acknowledged the many unique design elements incorporated into the project, including the novel approach to straightened the sharp curve in Oxbo Road and place the intersection on the bridge deck, the raising of the bridge deck out of the flood plain, the addition of sidewalks and bike shoulders in all directions, the architectural treatments of the parapet and retaining walls, the incorporation of wall-mounted pedestrian lighting to improve safety while preserving the night sky near the National Recreation Area, and the placement of the abatements to preserve space for a future trail system beneath the bridge.
