Approval of the Residential Traffic Control Enhancement Policy.

Body
Item Summary:
The purpose of the Residential Traffic Control Enhancement Policy is to provide a streamlined process for residents and/or Homeowners Associations to take action against perceived speeding and pedestrian/bicycle safety concerns. Unlike the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy, this policy does not require a petition process nor is there any city cost sharing for the approved measures. Some examples of the measures covered under this policy include the In-Street Pedestrian Warning Assembly, the Driver Radar Feedback Sign, and the Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon. These measures have been successfully implemented by the City in the recent past to help calm traffic and promote more responsible driver behavior. The process involves City staff working with the residents and/or Homeowners Association to issue a permit, provide guidelines for how they would place, operate, and maintain their traffic control devices in the public right of way. Staff will monitor the program and make adjustments as necessary.
