Description:

The concept to use our Federal Earmark to build bicycle and pedestrian capable bridges on both sides of the State Route 9 Bridge over the Chattahoochee River will greatly benefit both the Cities of Roswell and Sandy Springs.

The Mayor has suggested that we use this opportunity to host a Joint Transportation Summit with Sandy Springs to share information on pending projects of mutual interest and look for partnership opportunities.

The current concept envisions a Summit that would include the Mayors, City Councils, and staffs of both the City of Sandy Springs and the City of Roswell. Our current plans are to cater a dinner at the Roswell River Landing, conduct joint transportation briefings and engage in round table discussions.

Due to the fact that this Earmark will be adopted in the Regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) in December, we propose scheduling this in early 2010.

Comments:

Staff is looking for guidance on how best to proceed with this concept.
