Item Summary:
Project Lifesaver is a public safety program designed to protect and locate missing persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other cognitive conditions due to wandering. The grant in the estimated amount of $4,000 will pay for the start of the program which includes training for up to 15 people, training for up to 6 officers to be instructors, supplemental training for up to 3 staff members specific to dementia issues, radio rescue equipment (2 receives, 2 transmitters, batteries) and 2 wandering kits.

On September 11, 2012 the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the September 24, 2012 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
If this grant is selected for an award, Roswell will be expected to pay a one-time $450 training expense and cover the instructor's travel costs.  The City is not required to provide local matching funds.
