Title
Discussion of Surplus Computers for Employee Purchase Program/Donation Program - Guidance
Body
Action Required:
Description:
The City of Roswell IT Department computer replacement program has retired 40, Dell GX280, 2.0Ghz, 512MB RAM computers, aged over 5 years which are now available for the Donation/Employee Purchase Program. There are no monitors included with these computers.
In the initial program of May 2008, one-half of the used computers were donated and one-half were made available through the Employee Purchase Program for $25 per computer. In January and July 2009, the City donated computers to the Child Development Center (CDC) of Roswell. Staff contacted the Child Development Center on August 1, 2011 to see if they were interested in another donation. Due to the age of the surplus computers, the CDC did not feel that the computers would be of benefit to their program and were not interested in another donation. Staff is seeking guidance regarding how to proceed with the Donation/Employee Purchase Program for the 40 surplus computers.
