Item Summary:

Katie Miller, a sixth grade student at Queen of Angels Elementary School in Roswell has been named 1st place winner of the ASCE contest for middle school students, "What Do Civil Engineers Do?"  Katie prepared a scale model of a number of civil engineering achievements, including Hoover Dam and a suspension bridge.  The award includes a $300 prize.

 

The Georgia Section, ASCE, sponsored the contest for middle school students across the state, following Money magazine's selection of civil engineering as the No. 6 best job in America.  Students could prepare an essay, video, artwork, or other media to answer the question.
