Body
Item Summary:
The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund is coordinating efforts to secure surplus equipment for fire departments devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  Island Park, NY Fire Department is a small department that lost its only engine and all equipment to the hurricane.

The City of Roswell has a surplus 1991 Sutphen fire engine, VIN 1S9A1BFD9M1003841 and a surplus PPV Gas Fan to donate.  Transportation to NY will be provided by the receiving fire department and a general liability waiver will be signed in exchange for the equipment.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
This item will be presented to the Public Safety and Public Works Committee on November 13, 2012.

Financial Impact:
Typically surplus equipment is sold through a competitive bid process; however, due to the unusual circumstances affecting Island Park, NY Fire Department, the City would forgo the revenue that would be generated by the sale of the engine and equipment.
