The Future Cities competition is part of National Engineers Week. Student teams plan and design virtual cities with SimCity 4 software and build physical models with recycled materials. Students research and write a solution to an engineering problem, write a narrative describing their city and present their ideas before a panel of judges. This year's theme was "Rethinking Runoff: Design Clean Solutions to Manage Stormwater Pollution."
The Future Cities awards won by Queen of Angels were: "Best Virtual City"; "Best Futurist City"; "Best Urban Planning"; "Best Sustainable Design"; "People's Choice"; and winner of the Regional Competition.
