Item Summary:
Invitation to Bid #14-226-C was issued and two (2) bids were received with costs ranging from $2,313,985.04 to $2,702,494.50. Vertical Earth was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $2,313,985.04.
 
This project was identified in the HBR Corridor Study and will add a third westbound travel lane along Holcomb Bridge Road (SR 140) between Old Alabama Road and the SR 400 northbound on-ramp. The project consists of turn lane and signal upgrades at the intersections of Old Alabama Road and Market Boulevard, and new eight-foot wide sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and streetscape enhancements along both sides of Holcomb Bridge Road.
 
Construction is expected to begin in December 2014.

On October 29, 2014 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the November 10, 2014 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
Bond funds in the amount of $4,893,659 are available in the Westbound Through Lane project account, ORG 31342101, OBJ 541415, PROJECT 91012.
