Item Summary:
This text amendment will allow farmers' markets in commercial zoning districts with certain limitations. The limitations include:
1. Permit good for twelve (12) months
2. Market must include 75% farm produce
3. A Market Manager is required on site
4. Hours of Operation are 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a maximum of 6 hours per day
5. Maximum of 2 days per week
6. Will be permitted by right in C-1, C-2, C-3, H-R, and MPMUD
7. Applicant will be required to receive a Farmer's Market Permit
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
The Mayor and City Council approved the first reading of this ordinance during their March 12, 2012 hearing.
The Planning Commission recommended approval of this text amendment during their February 21, 2012 hearing. Planning Commission included a proposed amendment to allow for additional temporary banner to be used by the farmers' market.
The Community Development Department recommends approval of the ordinance.
