Discussion of site locations for the relocation of Fire Station 4 - Guidance

Item Summary:
Fire Station 4 currently located at 1601 Holcomb Bridge Road needs to be replaced. The City obtained preliminary cost estimates to construct a new 3 bay fire station on city owned property at either Big Creek Park located on Old Alabama Road or Terramont Park located on Holcomb Bridge Road. The preliminary cost estimates ranged from $3.5 to $3.6 million. Additionally, other non city owned properties have been explored as potential sites for a fire station. No cost estimates have been obtained for these sites.
On April 12, 2011 the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the April 25, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda. At the April 25, 2011 Mayor and Council meeting, this item was deferred to provide staff with time to review other locations and costs of vacant parcels and buildings and return to Committee for further discussion.
