Item Summary:
Previously, Mayor & Council approved the use of special CDBG stimulus funds to improve the Roswell Water System in the target area by extending a water line from Warsaw Road along the alignment of Swaybranch Drive and connecting to Market Place. Right-of-way surveys would incorporate necessary information to design plans for a corresponding roadway extension from Swaybranch Drive to Market Place. Construction of the road could encroach on privage property containing two dams and detention ponds. This approach provides for the development of a solution to the detention pond issue on which the road extension right-of-way depends. A preliminary estimate of the cost to repair the dams is between $125,000 and $250,000. A hydrologic evaluation in an amount not to exceed $10,000 is critical to refine the necessary scope of work and cost estimate.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On August 4, 2009 the Public Safety & Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the August 17, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
It is recommended that funds for the engineering study come from unspent completed stormwater projects. Upon approval of Budget Amendment 7110CP-08-17-09, funding not to exceed $10,000 will be available in Cost Center 7110CP, Account 541200, Project 09ENV022.
