Item Summary:

This project consists of filling a heavily used sidewalk gap along the east side of Warsaw Road to provide additional pedestrian connectivity around ½ mile of Mimosa Elementary School. The typical section consists of a minimum 2' bike shoulder, 2' curb and gutter, a varying grass buffer and a 5' wide sidewalk. The project is approximately 1,160 feet long. The project starts from just north of Holcomb Bridge Road/SR 140 and ends at Park Bridge Lane/Tahoe Run, providing a continuous sidewalk up from Holcomb Bridge to Old Roswell Road. . The project required right-of-way and temporary construction easements from two property owners.

 

Bid #10-188-B was issued and nineteen responses were received ranging from $54,736 to $195,809. Artlantic, Inc./P.E. Structures was the most responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $54,736.47.

 

Committee or Staff Recommendation:

On August 25, 2010 the Community Development & Transportation Committee recommended placing this item on the September 13, 2010 Mayor and Council Agenda.

 

Financial Impact:

This project meets the qualifications for MARTA offset funds. Funds in the amount of $925,000 are available in the MARTA Fund Grant Cost Center.Cost center: 5540G1, Account # 541415 Project # 10TRA007
