Body
Item Summary:
The City of Roswell experienced a severe weather event involving sustained heavy rainfall in September, 2009 resulting in flood conditions along local streams, lakes, creeks, and the Chattahoochee River. Federal funding became available to local governments and residents through GEMA to assist in the recovery from the flood.

The City of Roswell applied for 29 requests for assistance through GEMA and received payments of $510,700.18 as of May, 13, 2010.  As a matter of policy, GEMA conducts an audit on projects over $64,200.  Roswell had two such projects; the Adult Recreation Center on Grimes Bridge Road sustained $261,265.95 worth of damage and the Riverside/Azalea Parks sustained $70,258.23 worth of damage. However, the Adult Recreation Center was insured and a claim was filed with the insurance company, therefore not eligible for GEMA funding, but GEMA had already issued a check for the project in the amount of $199,868.45. Close out of the project requires that the City reimburse GEMA in the amount of $151,783.56.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On June 12,2012 the Administration, Finance, Recreation and Parks Committee recommended placing this Item on the June 25, 2012 Mayor and Council Agenda.

Financial Impact:
Funding for the reimbursement will come from the GEMA 2009 Liability account.
