Item Summary:
A flood inundation model of Big Creek in Roswell and Alpharetta is being proposed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) using the stream gages located in each City. The purpose of the model is to provide web based flooding information to the public and to assist transportation, and emergency managers with public safety decision-making information. The model will also be used in the Emergency Operations Center during critical events as appropriate.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On July 30, 2014 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the August 11, 2014 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
The Joint Funding Agreement provides funding from USGS in the amount of $23,300 and $39,450 from the City of Roswell for a total cost of $62,750. Alpharetta has already committed to a cooperative agreement in the same amount. Funding is available for the City's share of this project in the Stormwater Utility Fund, Org 50743200, Object 541200, Project 82016.
