This policy revision to the Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual specifically recognizes command appointments in the Police Department at the ranks of Captain, Major, and Deputy Chief.
Currently the ranks of Captain and Major are included under the discipline and appeals provisions of City policy. The rank of Deputy Chief is unspecified in policy, as it is a new position. The requested policy revisions will allow flexibility to the City in the appointment of individuals to command positions.
