Item Summary:
This grant award is from the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).  It will be used to purchase an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR), which will be used to enhance officer efficiency, improve officer safety and to provide information for better intelligence gathering.

On August 14, 2012 the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this item on the August 27, 2012 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
Upon approval of BA 22132101-08-20-2012, $20,000 will be available in Project 2012, JAG GRANT, in Org 22132101-Object 542100-Project 78009.  The City has been awarded grant funds in the amount of $13,511 to be used for Public Safety programs, and $6,489 will be appropriated from Grant Match Fund Contingency for a total of $20,000.
