Item Summary:
Invitation to Bid #12-208-B was issued and five (5) bids were received with costs ranging from $435,981.99 to $592,376.25.  Johnson Landscapes Inc. was the lowest, responsive responsible bidder in the amount of $435,981.99.
 
The project consists of constructing sidewalks at four locations: Hembree Road (multi-use path), Pine Grove Road, Norcross Street, and reconstructing two existing crosswalks at the intersection of SR 9 (Alpharetta Street) at Magnolia Street and constructing a new sidewalk on the City Hall property to improve access to parking spaces at City Hall. These projects will provide approximately 3,570 linear feet of pedestrian improvements.
 
This is the final batch of projects associated with the MARTA Offset funds.  The MARTA Offset funds have allowed the City to build 2.5 miles of sidewalk in fourteen (14) locations.
 
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On August 29, 2012 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the September 12, 2012 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
Funds in the amount of $244,563.00 are approved and available in the MARTA Offset - Pedestrian Improvements Grant Account, 22142200-541415-92006 and supplemental funds in the amount of $493,896.62 are available in the Sidewalk Connectivity Program Account, 35042200-541415-92003.
