Item Summary:
The City Green project was created to provide connectivity between the City Hall campus and Canton Street; to activate a community space; and to cultivate an economically vibrant city center. The elements of the concept include but are not limited to: city green, amphitheater, plaza terrace with a water feature, Faces of War Memorial garden, WWII Memorial, walkways/promenade, and support buildings. The project concept consists of three phases: Phase One - City Green; Phase Two - Amphitheater; Phase Three - Heart of Roswell Park. The total estimated cost for the project is $5.2 million.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
The Downtown Development Authority presented the concept for the City Green project at Mayor and Council worksessions on May 19, 2014 and June 17, 2014. At the June 17th worksession, it was recommended to place this Item on the June 24, 2014 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
Funding in the amount of $578,167 was added by Council to the FY 2015 Proposed Budget on June 9, 2014 and is contingent upon final adoption of the budget on June 24, 2014.
