Body
Item Summary:
The City is pursuing Gold certification in the Atlanta Regional Commission's (ARC) Green Communities Program. There are several initiatives that would increase the potential for gold certification such as Green Building Standards, Community Green Building Incentives, Community Green Affordable Housing Incentives, Community Solar Incentives and Government High Efficiency Plumbing Fixtures.

This Ordinance adopts the National Green Building Standards.  The green building code is voluntary and is only required if a builder is seeking green certification.

Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On April 8, 2013 Mayor and City Council approved the first reading of this Ordinance.

Financial Impact:
Approval of the Building Green Incentives Policy is expected to have a minimal impact on Building Permit Fee revenue.  Staff will continue to regularly monitor revenue activity to determine any resulting impact.
