Item Summary:
The Sun Valley Road project includes a unique opportunity for the City to create a "pilot concept" for multi-party stormwater solutions. The city's consultant, McGee Partners submitted a proposal to design and permit a city-owned facility to assist with redevelopment for the surrounding area of the Sun Valley Road project.
On the adjacent parcel there is a large existing detention pond that could be modified in a way to allow private businesses along SR 9 to purchase credits from the City based on an approved policy as a way to meet their own water quality and detention requirements without constructing them on-site.
This pond modification would be constructed with the Sun Valley Phase 1 project in a location that anticipates the alignment of Phase 2 to occur in the future. This change order includes all design work, geotechnical investigations, and permitting impacts for the pond modification. It also includes final design work for the proposed roundabout, additional required survey for the project, coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which has jurisdiction over the waters, and additional coordination with the Honda Carland redevelopment.

On July 30, 2014 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the August 11, 2014 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
$453,195 is approved and available for the Sun Valley Road project, Phase I in ORG 35042200, OBJ 541415, Project 90007.
