Body
Item Summary:
The GICH is a joint program of the University of Georgia, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and the Georgia Municipal Association.  If selected, Roswell will be the largest city to participate in the program and will be the only one in the Metro-Atlanta Region.

The program is three years long.  The first year is spent on identifying needs and teambuilding.  The last two years are for implementation planning and activity.  The only cost to the City is for travel to two facilitated retreats per year which would be budgeted at $1,000 annually.

The City is collaborating with the Roswell Housing Authority as joint applicants.  A letter of intent to apply was sent to the GICH.  The application deadline was September 7, 2012.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On August 29, 2012 the Community Development and Transportation Committee recommended placing this Item on the September 12, 2012 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
If selected, the total estimated cost to the City will be $3,000 ($1,000 annually for three years).
