Item Summary:
The EECBG program was funded for the first time by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The City is eligible for a formula allocation of $825,700 from the U.S. Department of Energy. The purpose of the EECBG Program is to assist entities in creating and implementing strategies to: reduce fossil fuel emissions in a manner that is environmentally sustainable, reduce the total energy use of the eligible entities; and improve energy efficiency in the building sector, the transportation sector, and other appropriate sectors.
 
Staff recommends submitting the implementation of energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits identified in the Facility Conditions Assessment for the City's municipal buildings.
 
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On June 2, 2009 the Administration and Finance & Recreation and Parks Committee recommended placing this Item on the June 15, 2009 Mayor and Council Agenda.
 
Financial Impact:
No local match is required. The grant proposal is due June 25, 2009 and the City will have 3 years to spend the funds.
