Description:
Discussion of request by Atlanta Academy for speed reduction devices along Holcomb Woods Parkway and discussion of standing policy regarding private school zones. Roswell has an ordinance for speed limits with a listing of speed limits by road and school zones. Our speed limits are approved and permitted by the State, and we have not, as a matter of standing policy, installed a school zone and flasher for a private school. Speed limits and signage for school zones would also have to be approved and permitted by the State, since the State approves all of our speed limits. Speed limits are set to reflect existing conditions.

Comments:
RDOT recommends no change to our current policy. However, if Atlanta Academy wants to pay for two solar powered speed limit feedback signs, Transportation would have no objection. A pair of signs cost $9,494.00. We estimate that a contractor would charge approximately $2,000 for the pedestrian poles and labor to install.
