Item Summary:
The City of Sandy Springs signed the original contract with Motorola in December 2012 for $4.9 million on behalf of all NF cities to begin Phase I of the NF Unified Radio System project. Phase II consists of a change order in the amount of $7,870,386 to add Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell to the contract to procure the necessary equipment for the radio system. The total amended contract amount is $12,778,133 and Roswell's share of this contract is $4,089,003. This amount is within the original estimated system cost and was contemplated in the original agreement. Phase II of the project was approved by Mayor and Council on Janaury 28, 2013 and this action is administrative in nature.
The total estimated cost of the NF radio system is approximately $16 million. The City of Roswell's share is approximately $5.12 million or 32% based on a weighted average of population, land mass, and number of radios. The total project cost will be finalized as the design is finalized and tower sites and licenses are secured.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On January 28, 2013, Mayor and Council approved to amend the contract with Motorola to include Phase II of the project.
Financial Impact:
