Body
Item Summary:
A fresh look at tank alternatives was reviewed by the design engineers and a Special Called Mayor and Council Work Session was held on January 28, 2013 to review water tank location alternatives and to get public input.
The most viable options for the tank location are designated in attachments as Options #1 and #2, and were presented for discussion at the Public Safety and Public Works Committee meeting on February 12, 2013. In addition, revised consideration of space needs for Recreation and Parks operations, as well as for the Water Resources Division, has been conducted for consideration by Mayor and Council.
A decision on the tank location is requested so that the facility design can proceed in accordance with the established timeline.
Committee or Staff Recommendation:
On February 12, 2013 the Public Safety and Public Works Committee recommended placing this Item on the February 25, 2013 Mayor and Council Agenda.
Financial Impact:
The water storage tank under consideration is part of the approved water treatment plant design and construction which will be financed by a Georgia Environmental Finance Authority loan. Final costs associated with the relocation of City equipment/facilities are dependent on the final site selection for the tank.
